By Saudi standards, Buraida and Riyadh are more or less neighboring cities, but by bike we still need about a week to cover the 476 km in between. In between is also our first day of rest in this country, to which we are invited by a nice and large Saudi family on their farm. Afterwards our way leads us past the large and half-restored old town of Ushayqir and the geological gem called “Edge of the World”, for which we even take 45 km of gravel road. But finally we reach Riyadh, the capital and largest metropolis of the country, which is characterized not only by an impressive and extraordinary cityscape, but also by some historical sights.
