Mecca, Medina and Muhammad
Princes of Hospitality

This report’s podcast is only available in german: Prinzen der Gastfreundschaft.
Medina is the second holiest city in Islam and was inaccessible to non-Muslims until 2021. Since then, bike travelers like us have been mingling with the already motley mix of Muslim pilgrims from all over the world. In this episode, we explain why the city is so important in Islam and tell about our visit to the Prophet’s Mosque, which is the second largest mosque in the world and houses the tomb of Muhammad. We are invited to eat or stay overnight by Pakistanis, Syrians and Saudis alike (who at the same time provide a steady supply of dates in our panniers) and sleep in cozy living rooms and pompous palaces. But in the end, it is the many small encounters on the roadside that sometimes drive us to despair, but then again provide the greatest amazements.
We always appreciate your critisism, praise and other suggestions or hints and invite you to send us them via hi@zweiradlertouren.de!
We are going to get on our bicycles once again and further collect kilometers :-)
See you again soon!
