16 Days of Desert: A Chronology
Published on 16.03.2023, 17:17 in Ibri, Oman
This report’s podcast is only available in german: 16 Tage Wüste: Eine Chronologie.
From Riyadh we ride 1280 km and 16 days to the Omani city of Ibri. In between lies the Rub Al Khali, the largest sand desert in the world. Twice the size of Germany, it presents a particularly challenging obstacle for us. We ride 750 km through nothing but sand dunes, turning off only once. There are almost no settlements, only a gas station every few hundred kilometers to fill up on provisions. Heat, headwind and sand drifts bring us to the edge of despair. Truck drivers who occasionally slip us a bottle of water, and above all policemen, camel drivers and road workers who willingly share their shade with us, keep us in the race against the desert. In this episode, we trace the chronology of our desert crossing day by day, with all its ups and downs.
We always appreciate your critisism, praise and other suggestions or hints and invite you to send us them via hi@zweiradlertouren.de!
We are going to get on our bicycles once again and further collect kilometers :-)
See you again soon!
