Cycling East Statistics

Here are the results from the group poll of the Cycling East / Silk Road WhatsApp group, conducted in October/November 2025.
A total of 85 members participated. This is about 11% of all members and about 40% of all active members (those that wrote a message between 15th June and 15th November).

This survey was designed, prepared, conducted and evaluated under the aegis of Cycling East group admin Felix Puff (@radelix_and_rebikkey on Instagram)!
It is not the work of Belinda and Tizian from Zweiradler-Touren, we merely provided the webspace to publish the results.

Trip duration varies widely. The most participants are currently on the road between 6 months and 1 year. Some are on the road for multiple years. The Kilometers done during that time doesn't vary much between participants that are on the road for a similar amount of time.

People who travel 1 year or longer are a bit slower, however not much. Overall people make 50 km per day on average (including rest days), with a wide variation between participants.

Solo males are the fastest, being about 10 km/day faster than Couples. Solo females are even slower than couples, however take this with a grain of salt as we don't have much data for solo females. Interestingly, our only friend group are rockets being among the fastest of all.

Italians are the winners when it comes to speed, averaging at about 62 km/day, followed by Brits (56 km/day), Dutch (54 km/day) and N Americans, Germans and French (each 50 km/day). Swiss (39 km/day) take it slower on average.
