Entering into Vietnam marks the beginning of the Southeast Asia stage of our tour. From the saddle, we observe the changes this border crossing brings: wooden stilt houses, laughing schoolchildren, and: steeper roads! We are traveling in the mountains of North Vietnam, which push our calves and brakes to their limits. The further east we travel, the more we see the karst character of the landscape. For a few days, we once again cross the border back into China, where the karst takes on even more spectacular dimensions. In addition, we can observe the large-scale and still barely industrialized sugar cane cultivation here. We also celebrate Christmas in China before we say goodbye to China for the last time.
