History of China VI: Mao Zedong
Bicycle Touring in China: The Pros and Cons!
Published on 07.12.2024, 19:45 in Lao Cai, Vietnam
This report’s podcast is only available in german: Radreisen in China: Das große Fazit!.
After covering 5691 km in a total of 106 days in the Chinese provinces of Xinjiang, Inner Mongolia, Shanxi, Shaanxi, Sichuan and Yunnan, we have now reached the Chinese-Vietnamese border and thus also our gateway to Southeast Asia. In this episode, we will therefore draw a Major conclusion about China! What did we like about China, what didn’t we like? What do you have to be (mentally) prepared for if you want to travel around China by bike? And how has China changed over the last 22 years from a cyclist’s perspective? We also report in our usual manner on the last 500 km section of our China crossing from Kunming to the border town of Hekou, which, especially with a few idyllic little roads on the south bank of the Red River, doesn’t make it easy for us to say goodbye. And finally, we conclude our multi-part background series on the history of China by shedding light on the early years of Mao Zedong and the final spurt towards the creation of the People’s Republic of China.
We always appreciate your critisism, praise and other suggestions or hints and invite you to send us them via hi@zweiradlertouren.de!
We are going to get on our bicycles once again and further collect kilometers :-)
See you again soon!
