We have reached Leshan! But we will divide the experiences between Xi’an and Leshan into two episodes; this episode 66 deals with the part in Shanxi province. Our route here takes us through the Qinling Mountains, where not everything goes according to plan and we have to take some painful detours. And even once we have overcome this hurdle, the roads are no less steep. In fog and drizzle, we fight our way along small roads through lonely mountain villages towards the provincial border with Sichuan. The botany puts us in a good mood: We cycle through a kiwi region, see our first wild bamboo of the tour and also reach the rice-growing regions of China.
