Along the Huang He between Shanxi and Shaanxi
Published on 13.10.2024, 18:27 in Xi’an, China
This report’s podcast is only available in german: Am Huang He zwischen Shanxi und Shaanxi.
Our next destination after Pingyao was: the Huang He, or Yellow River! China’s second longest river cuts its way through a 500 km long gorge made of ochre-colored loess, which gives the river its color and its name. We cycled along the river for a good 200 km, partly on unpaved paths that were blasted into the steep rocks that flank the gorge here. It is the most spectacular section of our route through China so far. When we leave the Yellow River, the main focus is on culture: We climb up around 10,000 steps to the top of the sacred mountain Huashan and pay a visit to thousands of clay soldiers. At the end we reach Xi’an, a Chinese city steeped in history and an important milestone in our crossing of China.
We always appreciate your critisism, praise and other suggestions or hints and invite you to send us them via hi@zweiradlertouren.de!
We are going to get on our bicycles once again and further collect kilometers :-)
See you again soon!
