Atatürk IV: Turkish Islamism

Along the Euphrates River

After Cappadocia we speeded up a bit and cycled in 2.5 weeks to Kars just before the Georgian border. While the first days were a bit boring, it finally became more mountainous east of Kangal and then even really spectacular in a canyon of the Euphrates – the highlight was the Kemaliye Rock Road. And finally we cycled the last 500 kilometers between Erzincan and Kars mostly on cyclist-friendly small roads through beautiful river valleys. In addition, we report once again about aches and pains of Tizian and his bicycle and draw a conclusion at the end of more than 120 days and 5000 kilometers of Turkey.
