After three days of urban hustle and bustle in Bangkok, including a visit to the Emerald Buddha, we finally head back to the sea! We follow the coastline of the Gulf of Thailand as closely as possible – and camp almost every night on deserted beaches. As hoped, there’s more wind here, but the breeze and the sea temperature only provide a slight cooling effect. Songkran, the Thai New Year, is more promising in this regard. On the Malay Peninsula, palm plantations now line the roadside, while on our journey south we finally pass under the sun, which from now on, and probably for quite some time, will stay in the north of us.
